We Remember our Fallen American Marine Heroes
CAMP PENDLETON - APRIL 7, 2011: These photos feature some of our 3/5 Marines and the Interim Tribute to our Fallen Comrades In Arms - Operation Enduring Freedom located in front of the LT Capodanno Chapel aboard Camp San Mateo-5th MAR Area. The Placard which memorializes the 37 Marines who made the ultimate sacrifice are part of our 5th Marine Regiment (1/5, 3/5 and 2/4) prior to (Capt Yurista-2/7) or at the time of their passing. The Fallen from the distinguished First Combat Engineer Battalion which are our brothers who are physically loCated here at Camp San Mateo are prominently honored as well.
The Tribute Monument Sign and Placard are a direct result of all the hard work by Jerry Neely-TopLine Construction, Gillian Kirkpatrick-King Design, our Volunteers from Shoreline Church in San Clemente, your Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group and generous donors which include the Armed Forces Retirees Association-CA, Newport Beach-American Legion Post 291, Marine Corps League-South Coast Detachment, Jim Naylor, Cynthia Martinez, and Tustin Community Bank plus several anonymous contributors.
The stainless steel LT Capodanno Chapel sign apex and glass enclosed case with Tribute are lit from inside and can be viewed at night. As coordinated and overseen by SgtMaj Ernest Hoopii, at 1000 on April 7, 2011, our Marines inserted the Placard, put the Red, White, and Blue Wreath in place and paid tribute to our Fallen Comrades.

The Harley-Davidson Flag shown below as signed by Orange County Harley-Davidson Staff and Well-Wisher's was also presented to our 3rd Battalion Fifth Marines as part of our Tribute and Welcome Home Salute.

God Bless our Departed, Wounded Warriors, and All our Fight’n Fifth Marines & 1st Combat Engineers BN. With the encouragement of 5th MAR Command, their Vision has now become a Reality.
