Richard Henry Dana Charity Regatta
As an annual event in the harbor, the Charity Regatta’s mission is to bring together the business, civic and social leaders of our community with its boating members in order to raise money to benefit our community in South Orange County. This prestigious event promises once again, to be the sailing and social event of the year. Since its inception, the Richard Henry Dana Charity Regatta® has raised over $750,000 dollars for local charities through corporate donations, sponsorships and individual contributions. DANA POINT YACHT CLUB
As you may be aware, each fall the Dana Point Yacht Club stages its Richard Henry Dana Charity Regatta® to benefit one of the outstanding charitable institutions that serves Orange County and its surrounding areas. We are very proud that, for the second year in a row, this year’s charitable beneficiary is the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group. The Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group was founded in 2007 to provide civilian assistance and support to Marines serving in the 5th Marine Regiment in nearby Camp Pendleton and their families. This assistance includes supplying our Marines deployed to foreign battle zones with care and comfort supplies; providing stateside support to the families of these Marines who are our neighbors and friends; helping pay for memorial sites and other improvements at Camp Pendleton to preserve 5th Marine Regiment tradition and enhance the quality of life on base; and helping our Marines navigate the sometimes challenging transition from soldiering to civilian life when their military careers are over.
